A BLOODY COMING OF AGE

In a gambit to become the power behind the Danish and English thrones, Askeladd has taken the prince, Canute, and plunged deep into a winter storm behind enemy lines。 Canute's father, King Sweyn, gives him up for dead in his haste to suppress English resistance。 But Askeladd's small band can't outrun the tenacious maniac Thorkell forever, and when the warriors finally clash, a storm of sweat and gore ensues that will turn a boy into a man and a hostage into a ruler of men!

I love this series! It's one of the best manga series I've read, and after reading the first 5 books this is my favorite。 Alot of character back stories and an exciting plot。 Great comic I love this series! Prince Canute is my favorite character。 The philosophy of love and the idea of love as discrimination was thought-provoking。 This is turning out to be one of my favorite series。

Not really a fan。 A lot of the plot twists were rather predictable and I find that the story is rather sluggish。 Overall, a 2/5。

One thing is certain about this manga… It’s not just another killing story!Thorfin is a young Viking around 1013 AD。 Fighting his own demons, he tries to grasp what his dead father once told him, “a true warrior doesn't need a sword”。 I just finished the third volume and I’m still failing to understand what does this expression mean。 Maybe that a true warrior fights for piece, not war。 Maybe, that killing brings more killing。 Making more enemies has no ending and as long as you’re failing to get One thing is certain about this manga… It’s not just another killing story!Thorfin is a young Viking around 1013 AD。 Fighting his own demons, he tries to grasp what his dead father once told him, “a true warrior doesn't need a sword”。 I just finished the third volume and I’m still failing to understand what does this expression mean。 Maybe that a true warrior fights for piece, not war。 Maybe, that killing brings more killing。 Making more enemies has no ending and as long as you’re failing to get that, you’ll always end up in despair。 I’ve read somewhere that “To truly eliminate your enemies is to realize you have no enemies。 No one is inherently your enemy”。 Maybe that’s what it’s all about。 Anyway, if you like manga or Vikings, just read Vinland Saga! You won’t regret it! 😉 。。。more

This saga has been great so far。 It has been slow starting, but this volume of the series finally got the story moving。 I can't wait to read vol。 4。 This saga has been great so far。 It has been slow starting, but this volume of the series finally got the story moving。 I can't wait to read vol。 4。 。。。more

Strong writing, guys fights, interesting growth though not as stellar as book 2 where we meet Thorkell or learned of Askeladd's past and goals, but solid nonetheless。 If you already dig Vinland Saga, go forth and enjoy, you won't be disappointed。 Strong writing, guys fights, interesting growth though not as stellar as book 2 where we meet Thorkell or learned of Askeladd's past and goals, but solid nonetheless。 If you already dig Vinland Saga, go forth and enjoy, you won't be disappointed。 。。。more

The absolute chaotic energy every character in this series emanates is a good time。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is tough for me to rate。 The art in this volume is top notch。 All the battle sequences, of which there are many, are drawn well and with fluidity。 As far as the story goes, I really hate the move that Canute makes in this volume。 It just doesn’t really make sense, and it’s here where the authors understanding of Christianity fails。 Hopefully this is reconciled later。 On the other hand Thorfinn and Askeladd get some great moments in this book。 So, it wasn’t enough to sour me。 It’s nice to se This is tough for me to rate。 The art in this volume is top notch。 All the battle sequences, of which there are many, are drawn well and with fluidity。 As far as the story goes, I really hate the move that Canute makes in this volume。 It just doesn’t really make sense, and it’s here where the authors understanding of Christianity fails。 Hopefully this is reconciled later。 On the other hand Thorfinn and Askeladd get some great moments in this book。 So, it wasn’t enough to sour me。 It’s nice to see manga have more depth than I originally anticipated。 。。。more

Great third installment of this series。 The action is cranked up a notch from #2 and we get an awesome rematch between Thorfinn and Thorkell。 The story continues to develop and now I am wondering what Canute is going to do along with Thorfinn and Askeladd。 Definitely worth the read if you are into graphic novels。

Fortfarande inte riktigt lika imponerande som den första boken。 Men nu börjar storyn ta fart igen。 Riktningen serien går i känns intressant。

This series just keeps getting better and better! This book builds more into the plot, giving more shape to events taking place in ancient Britain as the Vikings clash amongst themselves to get what they desire。Thoroughly engaging story that just makes me want to keep going, read another chapter until it's done。 This series just keeps getting better and better! This book builds more into the plot, giving more shape to events taking place in ancient Britain as the Vikings clash amongst themselves to get what they desire。Thoroughly engaging story that just makes me want to keep going, read another chapter until it's done。 。。。more

I felt like this series continues to impress me at every avenue。 It's so heartfelt, gripping and real and though this volume was imo the least captivating I was still turning page after page。 I cannot wait to close up the Season 1's source material! After that, I'm sure my reviews will be a little more lengthy。 I felt like this series continues to impress me at every avenue。 It's so heartfelt, gripping and real and though this volume was imo the least captivating I was still turning page after page。 I cannot wait to close up the Season 1's source material! Fantastic manga。

This was great!I've jumped to the manga at this volume, because I watched the anime adaptation and apart from the Thorfinn's childhood I wasn't a big fan of the "middle" arc, but the Canute's revelation on love and the Thorfinn/Thorkell fight is very the story picks up back again for me。I wasn't initially a fan of Makoto Yukimura's art but the more I read the more I appreciate it, the paneling and the composition are amazing。 He has an eye for such stricking imagery。 It is very beautiful indeed。 This was great!I've jumped to the manga at this volume, because I watched the anime adaptation and apart from the Thorfinn's childhood I wasn't a big fan of the "middle" arc, but the Canute's revelation on love and the Thorfinn/Thorkell fight is very the story picks up back again for me。I wasn't initially a fan of Makoto Yukimura's art but the more I read the more I appreciate it, the paneling and the composition are amazing。 He has an eye for such stricking imagery。 It is very beautiful indeed。I am excited to continue on with the story via manga。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I would say same review for this one applies for previous one。 Cool fights, great art style, and overall fun。 Book 2 and this book just felt like not alot happend compared to the first one。 Would be 4 star but not alot happens so mark it down for that reason。Longer review for previous one which i pretty much have same feelings。

Awesome! It felt a bit less «historical» then the previous two, but a really good balance between action and story evolution。 We also learn a bit more about some characters, taking them deeper and developing them on。 I'm liking this series even more with each read!
